The Fall

Hi Everyone, Over the last few weekends, Murray and I have been driving out into the country to enjoy these days of Autumn. The colors are majestic and glorious.   Yesterday, we drove to Waskasui to have a cinnamon bun from Archer’s Bakery.   Sadly, they were sold out!   The drive still was good for our soul’s.   We stopped at a river and the sign had a great quote to ponder about the river. Here is what is written:  "The Spruce river speaks of time: A time of Glaciers dying, and a river being born; A time of winter trails and freight wagons; A time for you to ponder, to watch wildness flow." Murray wrote the devotional thought for today. A quick update on the surgeries, I will know more after Tuesday, I am meeting with a specialist and will know the date for surgery.   I really do not like the waiting period, but this is a time to trust God fully. The Fall Hello all, (this is my version of Fall, hope you like it.) “He lets me rest in ...

Bless God

Hi Everyone,  I am grateful for today and the continuous changes during this season. Murray and I went for several rides out into the country this past weekend and the amazing fall colours are exploding everywhere. I am blessed to live in a beautiful province and thanked God for all the gifts given this weekend.   Brendon has written the devotional thought for today and he reminds us that when we bless God for the gifts given, we are receiving all the good things that are given daily.   The following are Brendon’s thoughts.   Dear Emmanuel Family,   In a wonderful sermon I read earlier this week, based on Psalm 63, I was reminded of the Jewish practice of “blessing God.”   In verse 5, the psalmist says, “I will bless you [God] as long as I live” (NRSV).   The author/preacher, Ellen Davis, wrote: “God is blessed over and over, multiple times a day, by every observant Jew -- and why?   Because, as the ancient rabbis taught, to use ...

Simple Gifts

Hi Everyone, My goal is to only write once a week, but today presented many simple gifts I would like to share.  I had both CT scans done today which is a blessing, and I was told my surgeons will receive the results today.  I ask, please pray I will receive confirmed dates for surgery quickly.    I asked for two things this summer, to see a beautiful Monarch Butterfly in my backyard and for my morning glory to bring forth a flower.    As I went out into my yard at lunch, now almost the end of summer, I was given both requests.  A monarch landed near me on the railing of my deck, sadly I was unable to take a picture and then I noticed a white and purple flower on the morning glory plant.  Both requests were given today, I feel extremely blessed.  I also would like to share an email from earlier today that my friend Roger sent.  He wrote a post three weeks ago, about his friends the beavers.  I was encouraged and blessed by his words...

"Do not be Afraid"

As we all have experienced, 2020 will be a year to remember, walking through a pandemic, financial burdens, not able to see love ones, riots, and I am sure the list of events can go on for each one of us.     Personally, there have been some fantastic wins and some profound valleys during this season.   I never thought I would help teach a child to learn at home. Learning to help home school back in March was a challenge for our family and continues to be.   But the challenge is worth it. We are growing closer as a family. Alex was in grade two when the school closed, and now he is enrolled in online learning grade three. I am amazed at how much he knows about the computer as we started his online homework yesterday.   This grandma is going to really need to rely on the Holy Spirit to teach her a deeper understanding of grace.   A bonus of staying at home to learn, notice Alex has no shoes or socks on! As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I ha...

Changing Seasons

Over the summer, I made it a regular routine of taking my tea, bible, and notebook out to my deck to enjoy the warm morning sun.   Murray and I went out early today and started the heater. We were still able to enjoy the morning sun with moments of cool air surrounding us.   Blankets and a heater help to stay warm.   I am hoping to enjoy a few more mornings before the cold fall winds start to blow.   I am grateful for the beautiful summer and now for the new season of fall. It has been wonderful to have thoughts from others in our community, today Elsie Nickorick has sent me a thought from her corner at the Bentley Retirement Home. Changing Seasons By Elsie Nickorick September is my favorite month of the year, with many memories like back to school, harvest of the crops, and enjoying the vegetable garden bounty. Presently, through in isolation and with all the limitations, we have the great outdoors which brings to my mind the hymn, “This is my ...
