Personal Revival

All week thoughts of revival have caught my attention.   What would it look like for true revival to take over the world and turn people’s hearts back to the One True God?   Following is a quote from E. M. Bounds and a scripture verse to consider what personal and corporate revival looks like during the time of COVID-19. "All the true revivals have been born in prayer.   When God’s people become so concerned about the state of religion that they lie on their faces, day and night in earnest supplication, the blessing will be sure to fall.”   E. M. Bounds “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 Prayer:   Father God, I pray that during this time, people will turn to you with their whole heart.   That they will be open to the work of Your Spirit in their life, and true...

A Coronavirus Prayer

For those who appreciate prayer prompts, this prayer for COVID-19 is a good start for your prayers.  What I like about this prayer, the writer Kerry Weber prays the prayer.  A Coronavirus Prayer Click here to listen. Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbors from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace. Be...

Tips on How to Live Well During Isolation

I read an interesting article today about Scott Kelly, who spent almost a year on an international space station.  He was in isolation.   In his post, he gives some practical tips on how to live well when life is a challenge.   His tips are: Follow a daily schedule, pace yourself, go outside (enjoy the warm sun and nature), have a hobby, keep a journal, take time to connect, listen to those who know best and remember we really are all connected.   If you would like to read his article, click here.   All these tips are practical and will help us to stay healthy when life is hard.   Like being isolated.   Three tips that stood out from Kelly’s post were:   Stay connected, keep a journal, and listen to those who know best. Staying Connected: Today, I connected with many older adults in our community and a few of their family members.   It was interesting to hear all the interesting ways people are connecting with each other while sta...

What Am I Grateful For?

Hi Emmanuel Community,  It has been a long time since I have posted on this blog.   This week, I have been pondering ways to connect with our community as often as I can.   As many of us are staying at home.   I am also now working from home.  I thought it would be great to post words of encouragement and thoughts on prayer during this unpredictable season we all find ourselves in.   I went searching for a picture in iStock photos today and the above image captured my attention. For the first post, it would be great to think about what we are grateful for today.   Even though the world is in a crazy place because of COVID-19, God is still faithful and blesses us daily.   The two things I am most grateful for today are:   I can still connect with many of you even while I am at home. That we can come together as a community for prayer.   There are three prayer times daily that the Emmanuel community is gathering, throug...
