Remembering God's Promises

This weekend, Murray and I went again on the road, as we have for the last month, to explore Saskatoon's surrounding communities.    Murray suggested we travel towards Asquith.   He heard the fields were covered with geese getting ready to travel south.   We did not find geese but explored a regional park we had never heard of, Eagle Creek, which is only about a 45-minute drive from Saskatoon.   A hidden park that looks like it would be a nice spot to camp in the summer.   On the hills above the valley, three old combines sit like guardians for the area.   I was able to have two in the photo. They are a reminder of a time long past.   I have enjoyed getting to explore the areas around Saskatoon.   I have always liked an adventure, and this was on my invisible bucket list for years.   The best part, Murray, is with me on the journey. On a lighter note, I would like to share a funny event from Murray’s journey.   He wen...

Simple Gifts

Hi Everyone, My goal is to only write once a week, but today presented many simple gifts I would like to share.  I had both CT scans done today which is a blessing, and I was told my surgeons will receive the results today.  I ask, please pray I will receive confirmed dates for surgery quickly.    I asked for two things this summer, to see a beautiful Monarch Butterfly in my backyard and for my morning glory to bring forth a flower.    As I went out into my yard at lunch, now almost the end of summer, I was given both requests.  A monarch landed near me on the railing of my deck, sadly I was unable to take a picture and then I noticed a white and purple flower on the morning glory plant.  Both requests were given today, I feel extremely blessed.  I also would like to share an email from earlier today that my friend Roger sent.  He wrote a post three weeks ago, about his friends the beavers.  I was encouraged and blessed by his words...

"Do not be Afraid"

As we all have experienced, 2020 will be a year to remember, walking through a pandemic, financial burdens, not able to see love ones, riots, and I am sure the list of events can go on for each one of us.     Personally, there have been some fantastic wins and some profound valleys during this season.   I never thought I would help teach a child to learn at home. Learning to help home school back in March was a challenge for our family and continues to be.   But the challenge is worth it. We are growing closer as a family. Alex was in grade two when the school closed, and now he is enrolled in online learning grade three. I am amazed at how much he knows about the computer as we started his online homework yesterday.   This grandma is going to really need to rely on the Holy Spirit to teach her a deeper understanding of grace.   A bonus of staying at home to learn, notice Alex has no shoes or socks on! As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I ha...

WWJD

A few weeks ago, I ask Jan Smith if she would consider writing a thought for the blog.   She said yes, but I did not know when she would send me in a post.   Earlier today, she wrote and said she had a post to send out. This may seem strange, but as I was talking with her, a hummingbird flew near my deck and looked at me, then flew away.  I have never seen a hummingbird in my yard before.   I was surprised.     Later in the day, Jan wrote and asked if I had read her post and had I listened to Brendon’s message for August 23. I had not, but I went and read both.   What you are about to read is providential. Jan did not know what Brendon was going to speak on today, but it seems God has a message for us to hear.   After I read both messages today, I had tears in my eyes. Brendon, wrote today, “The fruit of abiding in Jesus is Christ-likeness - looking like Jesus, living like Jesus, becoming like Jesus.”   Jan was used by the Holy...
