Simple Gifts

Hi Everyone,
My goal is to only write once a week, but today presented many simple gifts I would like to share.  I had both CT scans done today which is a blessing, and I was told my surgeons will receive the results today.  I ask, please pray I will receive confirmed dates for surgery quickly.

I asked for two things this summer, to see a beautiful Monarch Butterfly in my backyard and for my morning glory to bring forth a flower.

As I went out into my yard at lunch, now almost the end of summer, I was given both requests.  A monarch landed near me on the railing of my deck, sadly I was unable to take a picture and then I noticed a white and purple flower on the morning glory plant.  Both requests were given today, I feel extremely blessed.  I also would like to share an email from earlier today that my friend Roger sent.  He wrote a post three weeks ago, about his friends the beavers.  I was encouraged and blessed by his words today.  He said I could share with all of you his message. The photos of the beavers are amazing.

Hi Robin:

Thanks for sharing. I like your analogy of the mug changing colour from a dark shade to a multitude of bright vibrant colours that come to life. As I was going through my photos I thought I would share one of a friend holding a green plant. For me, green is my favourite colour, as to me it represents life. As I look at God's wonderful creation, it is full of life, consisting of many different shades of green. We can find green life in all four seasons, even in the midst of winter we can see green through the white blanket of snow. The snow in winter represents a white purifying blanket that in spring produces new life, shades of green springing up everywhere.
In the photo my wild friend is offering a gift, a gift of life. The green plant represents life and gives my wet furry friend life, thus the plant is life-giving, just as plants give us life by producing oxygen. God made His wonderful creation to sustain life, then He did an amazing thing, He gave His Son to give us eternal life.

Just as Jesus gave His life to give us life by dying on the cross then returning from the dead thus providing eternal life to those who believe. I like to think that Jesus wears a green cloak, a life-giving green cloak, as the woman in the crowd just touched his cloak which gave her new life (healing) demonstrates.
Just as I will continue to lift you and your family up in prayer during this time, my furry friend will do the same. The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24 - 26)

Lord thank you for being the creator of life, thank you for your wonderful creation and how it shows us life. Lord thank you for your Son who gives us life, eternal life because of the sacrifice He made by taking our sins upon the cross. Thank you, Lord, for the Holy Spirit that comes to us via You and the Son, the Spirit which lives in us so that we have someone who intercedes on our behalf with you. Lord I lift up to you Robin during this time, Lord let her feel your peace, fill her with your Holy Spirit, guide her steps, bless her and her family during this time, I ask that you be with her and the surgeons as they perform the surgeries. I ask that you be with Murray and bless him during this time as well as the rest of the family. Thank you Lord for all that you have done, will do and are doing in Robin's life, wrap her in the green cloak that sustains and brings forth healing and new life. Thank you, Lord, in Christ our Lord Amen.

Have a wonderful day.

Blessings
Roger (and wild wet furry praying friend)
Thank you Roger for your encouraging words and prayer.  I will keep all of you up to date with the surgeries when I find out what the next steps are.

Blessings and stay safe, Robin

Good-Bye to the Horizon Students

Over the last six years, I have had the privilege to be a mentor and ministry supervisor for students from Horizon College and Seminary in Saskatoon.   It is an honor to walk alongside younger people and offer ministry opportunities.   God has brought amazing people into my life who have also encouraged me and helped me grow in my faith. Today, I finished up the administration side of being a mentor for Leah and Erin, the horizon students who were part of my life this year.    It is interesting to be part of triad-cohort, which is three people encouraging and walking alongside each other.   Very inspiring.   Both women have the heart to visit with senior adults, care for their well-being, and grow their own faith.   I do hope you had a chance to meet these young women. Hopefully, God will open an opportunity next year for a student or two to come and be part of the ministry at EBC.     A question to ponder:   Have you spoken w...

Remembrance Day

Five days ago, a special friend sent the bouquet above for my 60 th birthday. Thank you to all who took the time to show your love to my family and celebrate my birthday.   I am blessed to have family, friends and community around to care for and love me.   For the last seven weeks, I have received at least two cards a day. Thank you so much.   The bouquet is unique not just for the love it reminds me of but also for the great gift of love given to all of us. As I mentioned last week, this blog has a theme going that is on remembering.   Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, and my friend Roger offered to share a post he wrote for us to remember.   Roger is a veteran and helped lead the service with me last year at the Bentley. When I started my journey being on staff in 2008, at Emmanuel, I became part of a team of people who lead the Bentley Chapel service each week.   I also helped with leading the Remembrance Day service each year, a well-attende...

The Gathering of Willow Trees

Last week, I decided to gather my Willow Tree figurines together.   I have about twelve of them. I had several in my office at the church, and others scattered around my home.   Each one arrived for a special event or situation that has taken place in my life. It was nice to remember how they came into my life and why. It is good to take time to reflect.   In the following display, I have placed soar, freedom, and hope.   Mark and Cindy, who are with the Heartland Regional Office part of the Canadian Baptist of Western Canada (CBWC), sent the flowers.   The Staff and the Board of EBC also sent their prayers and love through a lovely bouquet.   I enjoy having beauty in my home, especially when the item reminds me that I am part of a broader community holding me up in prayer.   Thank you to everyone for the creative ways you have expressed your love and care for my family during this crazy beautiful season. Soar arrived during ordination as a rem...
