Community Prayer

Good Morning I had the privilege to lead us in community prayer at EBC today. Click here to listen.   To begin, a prayer of confession. Our God, whose son is the light of the world and the resurrection and the life,          in his penetrating light we acknowledge our darkness; in his constant gaze, our careless love; in his generous giving, our sordid grasping; in his equal justice, our dire prejudice; in his fortitude, our fearful failure; in his inclusive love, our deep divisions; in his pure sacrifice, our selfish sins. But in his cross is our forgiveness, and in his resurrection, our enduring hope. The pardon and the promise we now claim in penitence and faith, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.   Holy Father, we gather today to worship and praise you.   Maybe not in a church building, but right here in this moment.   We come now to rest in your presence, remind us of...

Community Prayer July 5, 2009

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be your name in all the earth. We Praise you Father, and pray let your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Father, today we ask for your grace and mercy to be upon your church, our nation of Canada, and the world. Jesus, as we come before you grant to us a deep awareness within our hearts and minds of how we deserve your judgment far more than your blessings. It is by your blood we have been cleansed and have new life. For this we praise your name and give thanks. Grant us a conviction of our sins, an awareness of our brokenness, and a real spirit of repentance. Let us be people who fear the Lord, who walk humbly with you, turning from our ways, through repentance. Purify your bride Jesus for your glorious second coming, and prepare us for the marriage supper of the Lamb of God. Holy Spirit blow over people’s hearts convicting them of their need for you. Let there be a move of your Spirit throughout the w...

Community Prayer May 31, 2009

Triune God, we come before you with awe and thanksgiving for your great story. Your word tells us that before you made the world, you loved us and chose us in Christ to be faultless in your eyes. Your plan has always been to adopt us into your family, to purchase our freedom through the blood of the Son, and to identify us as your own by giving us the Holy Spirit, who speaks to us deep in our hearts and assures us that we are your children. As your children, we are all members of Christ’s body, and your word tells us that we belong to each other. Thank you for the expression of belonging that have been demonstrated within this community of faith in recent days…. For the meals that have been prepared and delivered, Fro the notes of encouragement that have been written and sent, And for the helping hand that has been offered to lighten a load. Thanks you for times of celebration and laughter… for honouring lives well lived for recognizing achievements for sending each other out with ...

Community Prayer May 17

Psalm 40: 1-5 I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. Heavenly Father we thank you and praise you for all that you have done for us. Thank you for your grace, mercy, and compassion that is always being poured out upon us moment by moment. Thank you for hearing our prayers. Jesus as we walk the narrow path of faith, remind us that you are our rock, our hope, and solid foundation. You are the one who lifts us up from dark place...
