Community Prayer May 17

Psalm 40: 1-5
I waited patiently for the Lord; He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

Heavenly Father we thank you and praise you for all that you have done for us. Thank you for your grace, mercy, and compassion that is always being poured out upon us moment by moment. Thank you for hearing our prayers.

Jesus as we walk the narrow path of faith, remind us that you are our rock, our hope, and solid foundation. You are the one who lifts us up from dark places, and puts a new song on our heart. For this we praise you and thank you for all that you have done for us.

Holy Spirit, as we take a moment of silence, we ask you to search our hearts and reveal to us any areas in our life that separate us from our Father in Heaven.

silence

Father God, Thank you for forgiving us completely and loving us unconditionally. Help us to forgive and love others and ourselves for your sake.

Thank you for your word that promises us that you hear our heart cries and concerns. God within our church community there are many who need a touch from your healing hand of mercy. Today, we remember and lift before your throne of grace those in our church community who are:

Battling with cancer and other illnesses, those who are recovering from surgery, those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, those who are walking along side aging parents or family and friends who are ill, those who are alone, depressed, or hurting, those who are struggling with broken relationships or who have caused pain, those who are unemployed or working in conditions that are not perfect, for those who are traveling and away from us, those who are experiencing major life changes, and for the numerous heart prayers each of have.

Jesus help us to stand firm in our faith when we enter circumstances that test and shake us. Help us to hold on to your truth, embracing the journey knowing Your Holy Spirit is leading, comforting, and guiding us through. Thank you for those you have placed in our life to walk along side revealing your love and grace. I ask Jesus that for anyone here today who is struggling to hang on, or has a huge mountain to face, that you will pour out your love and mercy upon them granting hope and peace. Help them to fight the good fight of faith with intriguing. Thank you for our church family here at Emmanuel and thank you for knitting our hearts together as one in Christ.

Thank you Father God for the message you have given to Pastor Lou today, open our ears and heart to hear Your word, and help us to not only hear but to work it out in our daily life. Keep us daily in your word, growing in Christian maturity.

Psalm 42:8 By day Lord, You direct your love, at night Your son is with us, this is a prayer to the God of our life.

We thank you for sending Jesus as the perfect man, whom one day we will model as all you intended us to be in the stewardship of the new heaven and new earth. I pray that we as your church, Christ’s body may daily depend on Jesus and bring him honor, for the sake of Your Glory.

Psalm 43:8 In You, Sovereign Lord, we make our boast all day long, and we will praise Jesus name forever. Amen.

Good-Bye to the Horizon Students

Over the last six years, I have had the privilege to be a mentor and ministry supervisor for students from Horizon College and Seminary in Saskatoon.   It is an honor to walk alongside younger people and offer ministry opportunities.   God has brought amazing people into my life who have also encouraged me and helped me grow in my faith. Today, I finished up the administration side of being a mentor for Leah and Erin, the horizon students who were part of my life this year.    It is interesting to be part of triad-cohort, which is three people encouraging and walking alongside each other.   Very inspiring.   Both women have the heart to visit with senior adults, care for their well-being, and grow their own faith.   I do hope you had a chance to meet these young women. Hopefully, God will open an opportunity next year for a student or two to come and be part of the ministry at EBC.     A question to ponder:   Have you spoken w...

Remembrance Day

Five days ago, a special friend sent the bouquet above for my 60 th birthday. Thank you to all who took the time to show your love to my family and celebrate my birthday.   I am blessed to have family, friends and community around to care for and love me.   For the last seven weeks, I have received at least two cards a day. Thank you so much.   The bouquet is unique not just for the love it reminds me of but also for the great gift of love given to all of us. As I mentioned last week, this blog has a theme going that is on remembering.   Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, and my friend Roger offered to share a post he wrote for us to remember.   Roger is a veteran and helped lead the service with me last year at the Bentley. When I started my journey being on staff in 2008, at Emmanuel, I became part of a team of people who lead the Bentley Chapel service each week.   I also helped with leading the Remembrance Day service each year, a well-attende...

The Gathering of Willow Trees

Last week, I decided to gather my Willow Tree figurines together.   I have about twelve of them. I had several in my office at the church, and others scattered around my home.   Each one arrived for a special event or situation that has taken place in my life. It was nice to remember how they came into my life and why. It is good to take time to reflect.   In the following display, I have placed soar, freedom, and hope.   Mark and Cindy, who are with the Heartland Regional Office part of the Canadian Baptist of Western Canada (CBWC), sent the flowers.   The Staff and the Board of EBC also sent their prayers and love through a lovely bouquet.   I enjoy having beauty in my home, especially when the item reminds me that I am part of a broader community holding me up in prayer.   Thank you to everyone for the creative ways you have expressed your love and care for my family during this crazy beautiful season. Soar arrived during ordination as a rem...
