Remembrance Day

  Five days ago, a special friend sent the bouquet above for my 60 th birthday. Thank you to all who took the time to show your love to my family and celebrate my birthday.   I am blessed to have family, friends and community around to care for and love me.   For the last seven weeks, I have received at least two cards a day. Thank you so much.   The bouquet is unique not just for the love it reminds me of but also for the great gift of love given to all of us. As I mentioned last week, this blog has a theme going that is on remembering.   Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, and my friend Roger offered to share a post he wrote for us to remember.   Roger is a veteran and helped lead the service with me last year at the Bentley. Embracing the Past

November is here! I noticed lately that the blog has a theme of remembrance and being grateful woven throughout each post.   I have been musing over different events to write about and what keeps coming to me is how important it is to remember and give thanks. Yes, Murray and took a drive this weekend out into the country, but it was just before sunset on Friday night. I never want to forget the beautiful sunsets I have seen and enjoyed on the Prairies. The sunset on Friday night was breathtakingly beautiful. Looking back in my journals, I noticed that my family often has taken-to-the-road when life is on the crazy-side, even in frigid weather. Following is a journal entry from January 2002: Last week my family took a few days off from routine and drove to Regina. The temperature that week was around -40c.  I like browsing bookstores, so we went to the Chapter's bookstore, and I found a book of poetry that caught my attention.
